You Never Forget Your Frist Time

Poor Bill Frist.  If Wikipedia is any guide — actually, these days, it’s the premier guide — then the former Tennessee Senator has a long way to go before equaling James Carville in stand-alone red carpet fame and notoriety.

At issue – this ad that ran during the Super Bowl:

Wikipedians immediately updated Carville’s entry to include mention of his appearance.  “Carville appeared in a Coca-Cola commercial during the 2008 Superbowl.”   No mention of Frist.  Frist’s entry?    The mention was added later — and includes Carville: “He was in a Coca-Cola ad during Superbowl XLII in 2008, with Democratic pundit James Carville.”  The ad is also Frist’s sole entry in his “In the media” section.  The poor guy.

Meantime, alas, Wikipedia is silent on Carville’s many other commercial ventures.

We sure wish there was a Wikipedia entry, or at least a YouTube, of his 1998 ad for Alka Seltzer — described this way by Alka Seltzer:

1998 Alka-Seltzer signed on America’s No. 1 husband and wife political pundits – James Carville and Mary Matalin – to tout relief during this heightened time of political heartburn.

Just as the idiotic Audi ad with the man waking in bed ala The Godfather relies on ALL viewers being able to recognize the notion, the Frist/”Drag a $100 bill through a trailer park” asshole ad relies on ALL viewers knowing who the f-they are (or even giving an s): not! Wasted money on wasted Washington people: no, not just the ONDCP ads, both of the aforementioned losers.
