Mike, I totally know what you're talking about. When we left New Hampshire to move back to Utah, the girl from the utility company said, "Utah? Where's that?" I explained to her that it was a couple states in from California, and she said "Oh, OK.... um, how do you spell it?"

Well, "rich" diversity seems appropriate. Wouldn't do actually to mix with people who, you know, make their money by hourly wages.

I doubt Bob Woodward would agree with your characterization of him as "liberal", even if he turned on Bush with his latest book. As for Quinn and Bradlee, your guess is as good as mine.

heh. In 2002 I spent a summer in Maine (it was pretty sweet btw) working for a friend of mine who went to school on the east coast. Everyone in Maine was focused on accents, in my case an axe-sent, and what college/university they/their kids went to. I am working (horrible, horrible jobs) my way through a state school so I was a little embarassed when everyone started gloating about Harvard and Georgetown. One night I was having a few beers with a neighbor who was enrolled at Georgetown and she asked about my painfully obvious accent (it takes a few drinks to pull it out of me) and where that sort of accent comes from. I said that it was probably from the 15 years I spent in New Mexico (0-15). She looked at me for a second and asked:

So are you like a citizen of the U.S. now?

It’s a gorgeous rainbow out there.
