Nuts And Sluts Make Scarborough Fair?

August 19, 2006 at 11:17 pm

Washington Post’s Peter Baker highlights MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough leading the way in conservatives renouncing President Bush — particularly for his intellgence:

While other presidents have been called stupid, Scarborough said: “I think George Bush is in a league by himself. I don’t think he has the intellectual depth as these other people.”

Which begs the question — is Scarborough deserving of Mensa membership?

Not if you consider the types of shows Scarborough puts on.

The former Republican congressman has turned to cable TV’s dark side — nuts and sluts.

Here’s Media Bistro’s TV Newser on July 27:

In recent weeks, viewers have noticed a sudden shift in Scarborough Country: A tabloid turn toward crime and celebrity “news.” The program is clearly playing up pop culture stories. … Stories about Brad Pitt, Britney Spears and Christie Brinkley started to creep back in.

The below shot of a brilliant Scarborough Country show topic (hat tip, ironically, to crooksandliars) surely has the pot wondering the same thing about the kettle.

Joe looked like a total idiot on his last show, running around with a long gun, pretending to be a soldier. Some of his skits are been funny. But this last one was truly idiotic!
    Mr. Kettle, meet Mr. Pot.

Joe Scarborough has been accused of many things but being an idiot has never been one of them. Not even close. Anyone who saw his 2004 election work knows he’s smart as hell and runs circles around anyone who tries to keep up with him.

What is with MSNBC? Their only innovative concept in years is for their on-air talent to trash others. Olbermann has his “Worst Person in the World” segment; Tucker has “Beat the Press”, and now Scarborough is running with “Is Bush an Idiot”? I hope it is not a permanent segment.

It would be fine if they just went after the person’s behavior, but they seem to want to get to each victim’s very soul! If Scarborough thinks Bush has done idiotic things, that’s fine, but he could frame his hypothesis a little differently without being so offensive. And it doesn’t say a whole lot for him, either, because he was shown up there with the President at a campaign rally during the last election.

I have admired Mr. Scarbrough for many years, but he has changed so much this last year that he has my admiration is no longer. He has cut all his strings to his conserative watchers. Goodby Joe.

Mary thinks Joe Scarborough is not conservative??? He is going after Republicans for not being conservative enough! And he’s right. People like Scarborough and Bob Barr are merely pointing out, Mary, that Rockefeller Republicans have taken over the party and expanded federal spending and power to sickening levels. Thank God there are a few conservative Republicans still out there.
