1. "Getting along" with your opponent out of fear of being painted a traitorous supporter of the 'terrorist' enemy (along with consideration as a potential DefSec);
2. Ignoring (let alone leading) investigative efforts to clear up questions of motivation and implementation of modern day warfare in the face of memos and cherry picked intelligence suggesting pre-ordained decisions;
3. Silence (or capitulation) on Supreme decisions requiring balance and independent thinking but, instead, allowing rubber-stamp partisan appointments guaranteeing the undermining of 75 years of progressive politics;
4. Avoidance of confrontation against (a) the propagandized role of 'national security' in oil/energy secret meetings of Administration & energy company special interests, (b) sale of National forest lands to forest products special interests, (c) virtual tax-free maintenance of the wealthy in an increasingly polarized economic disparity between large & small, rich & poor, have & have-not interests ...

These are the 'real accomplishments' the Washington Post would have us maintain in Washington as symbols of what American politics is perceived to offer as hope and leadership to the world.

No wonder so many people on this planet seems to perceive us as self-indulgent bully robber-barons interested in controlling their resources and labor through the protective guise of corporate mechanations and veils, armed strength and the process of cash-controlled electoral processes we pretend is freely elected 'leadership' - as praised in the person of the Honorable Mr. Lieberman of Connecticut.
