Sarah Palin’s line last night — “The difference between a hockey mom and a pit bull? Lipstick.” — surely will go down as one of the funniest jokes ever told at the podium of a party convention. The fact that it was ad libbed will make it all the more legendary.

Don’t go overboard on the ad-libbing. I had heard that she used it before, and in fact, quoted it to my wife a few minutes before Palin repeated it.
