First, our last trivia answer, suggested by America’s foremost brilliant professor and loyal Extreme Mortman reader Lee Annis of Montgomery College: “A troubled man for troubled times.”

And the correct question, submitted by Phineas J. Whoopee:  What was the campaign slogan for almost-candidate and rock legend Alice Cooper back in the 1970s — and later the name of his 2007 national tour?

Now, the next Extreme Trivia answer: Jim Webb’s connection to the early 1980s hit song, “Believe it Or Not,” the theme to the TV show “Greatest American Hero.”

Something about Mr. Katt’s (who played the Hero) father - William Tallman, who played Perry Drake on the old “Perry Mason” show (and had an interesting back-story of his own)?

First of all, William Katt — who played the hero — was the son of Barbara Hale, who played Della Street on Perry Mason. William Tallman was D.A. Hamilton Burger. Paul (not Perry) Drake was played by Bill Hopper, son of legendary Hollywood columnist Hedda Hopper.

And Jim Webb — the songwriter, not the senator — known for such hits as “Up, Up, and Away,” “By the Time I Get to Phoenix,” “Wichita Lineman,” “Galveston,” and “MacArthur Park” discovered Joey Scarbury or Scarborough, who sang the Greatest American Hero Theme.
