God Save The Queen — And Us From Ourselves
May 6, 2007 at 8:19 pm
The Queen’s presence in the colonies brought this remarkable editorial from the Virginian-Pilot newspaper:
For a moment, we are all Anglophiles. We are Elizabeth’s subjects and she our monarch for a day.
Well, if we’re all going to be British for a day, let’s respond to the Virginian-Pilot this week: Bollocks!

Ah, the Brits: we love our English cousins. But we did beat ‘em in two wars and bail ‘em outta two wars. Never can understand Americans who want to Subject themselves to Royalty: I thought that was the whole reason we started the USA in the first place. The Queen can help make things right by adding a few coats of paint to the pillars of The White House her troops tried to burn down in the War of 1812: that would be a nice start.
The British ain’t coming: they’re here.
