Success!

You can stop accusing Congress of not getting anything done.  They’ve managed to pull off this proud accomplishment:

The House majority leader, Representative Steny H. Hoyer of Maryland, told fellow Democrats this week that the House would not be in session next year on Fridays, except in June for work on appropriations bills.

See?  That’s hardly the work of a do-nothing Congress.

    I live in Maryland.

Steny should take a cut in pay if he is only going to work4, instead of 5, days a week.

    Or is that Comp Time?

This means that they will do 20 percent less? Is that 20 percent less damage or 20 percent less good?

We would all be better off if they quit all of their ‘work’.

Every time Congress ‘does something’, it costs you and me– money or a bit of freedom.

Here’s my advice to them: “Don’t just do something! Stand there!”

Don’t get me wrong. I’d rather Congress was in session as little as possible. But, wasn’t one of the House Democrats Leadership (well, if you can call San Fran Nan a leader) proclamations that they would meet *more* than 3 days a week? Wasn’t this to show how much more they cared than the Do-Nothing Republicans they replaced? How long has it taken to break that promise? Less than a year? Oh, well, it’s just one more broken Democratic Congress. What *have* they managed to do this year? Slur soldiers, slur the President, slur Rush Limbaugh, slur Gen Petraeus. Have I missed any of their signature acccomplishments?

Wasn’t it Mark Twain who wrote that no man’s life, liberty or property is safe while the legislature is in session? I’d be happy to DOUBLE their pay, if they’d STAY HOME!

And it may have been Will Rogers to opined that he was GLAD that we don’t get as much government as we pay for….

Here is a very good video explaining Congress’s work/recess habits. http://thelawdogfiles.blogspot.com/2007/09/gigglesnort.html
