Shuler Strikes Up The Broadband

May 9, 2007 at 1:09 pm

We learn this from Rep. Heath Shuler’s (D-NC) web site:

Congressman Heath Shuler will be chairing the first hearing of the Small Business Committee’s subcommittee on Rural and Urban Entrepreneurship today.  The hearing will focus on maximizing the value of broadband services to rural communities.

We have high hopes that the former Redskins quarterback who’s been in office four months and has already become a subcommittee chairman can master the complexities of broadband technology.  Particularly after being confused all those times by the Cowboys and Giants defenses.

The Communication Workers of America have a website dedicated to a National Broadband Access for all Americans, www.speedmatters.org . You may find much of the information very helpful. There is some special emphasis on the underserved and rural areas of the Country. High Speed Broadband access to these communities is so important for economic development as well as emerging technologies like Telemedicine, Distanc Education and Civic Participation. There is also a tool to test you access speed and a link to email Congress. Hope this helps.
