Fixing Everything But The Kitchen Sink

Instapundit points us to a Gallup poll finding Congress’ approval rating the lowest it has been since Gallup first tracked public opinion of Congress with this measure in 1974.

The dismal ratings seem to be looming larger and larger over the Democrats in charge.

For instance, check out Sen. Debbie Stabenow (D-MI):

“The expectations when we took control in January were so high, and we all feel it,” Stabenow told the Lansing State Journal editorial board last week. “We kind of feel like everybody thought the Democrats are now in control of the House and Senate, the war is going to end, we are going to have universal health care, everybody’s going to be able to go to college, no more global warming.”

Holy high expectations, Batman! Wouldn’t it be easier to just cut taxes and call it a day? Folks might approve of that.

Congress  Cut my syntaxes!

“just cut taxes and call it a day”

Since half of Americans pay no income taxes (not wage taxes like SS), this would only go to the top (half of all)l wage earners. No self respecting Democrat could ever do that, except rich ones like all of Congress.

    There’s a irony there somewhere.

I think that about 35% of the population is incensed that Congress hasn’t ended the war, 45% of the population is incensed that Congress would even CONSIDER giving up on Iraq, and 17% of the population hates politicians.

The other 3% consider themselves personal pork recipients, and will always approve of Congress as long as the money keeps coming home.

    I could be wrong though.

Apparently Stabenow didn’t realize who it was that suggested the issues that accompanied Democratic election results. Next time keep expectations in check by offering modest achievable goals. When that election strategy produces the results you want then you’re in position to not disappoint those who elected you. Look for the Democrats to propose a new election law called the ‘Truth in Election Advertising’ law–we’ll call it the ‘Stabinow Law’ for short.

Could someone recommend an eye doctor for me? Every time I see a reference to Bush’s low poll numbers in the dinosaur media, I am sure that immediately following there must be a sentence stating that Congress has even lower poll numbers. But I never see that next sentence. It must be my eyes, because dinosaur media, with its fact digging reporters and many levels of editing, would certainly include Congress’s poll numbers for perspective.

Wahoo! I am 54 and never been to college, had to do it the old way and work my way up.

I am picking my school choice now - might take awhile lots and lots of choices

Hey, wait a second! I had to pay for my college, and I chose a cheap one (Univ of Wyo) because I was as poor as my parents. At the time.
Is this Democrat congress going to reimburse me for my prior expenses, ’cause I’m in the age range that votes, not like all those 18-22 year olds. How about my master’s degree expenses from UT@Austin?
If they don’t, then I’m going to poll that they suck.
    Should anyone ask.

If everyone goes to college, who’s gonna re-shingle my roof? I mean, I’m just askin…

I imagine us all sitting around one day with our books having great discussions on social policy…in the dark…cuz no one knows how to fix the electricity…and the cold…cuz no one took a class in chopping wood…and we can’t use the bathroom cuz we didn’t get the book on plumbing. And we’re hungry, cuz there were no truck drivers to restock our grocery stores. We’d drive somewhere for help, but we did away long ago with useless jobs like car mechanic or crude oil rigger and the car won’t start. We’d hunt, but we’re too educated now to allow average citizens to own guns…so we’re starving…and freezing…and we’re going to die…but we’re really, really, really smart.

Stabenow’s disdain for the working class is stunning.

The only reason for the lowest poll numbers in history of polling for Congress is that they have refused to Impeach Bush/Cheney.

If they did it, their poll numbers would skyrocket.

They don’t even have to convict, only Impeach. That’s b/c the majority of Americans are fed up with #43 and his Republican enablers.

And, the mere fact that they refuse to even put Impeachment on the table means they are part of the inside the Beltway problem, not the solution.

Who can blame the Electorate for being fed up?

    im1dc,

You must be a Kos nutroot. The democrat congress does not dare impeach — the whole anti war basis that they were elected on was a lack of patience about winning on the part of everyone but the nutroot left (who simply wanted to lose more quickly). The real folks want to win — not lose.

Now we have a hypocritical San Francisco limo liberal running the house and a mentally challenged Nevadan in the senate - it’s no wonder that these pols are eating their words now that they are home and hearing from the voters.

    Hey, “Ed Sodar MD,

this Congress still has a long way to go to match the 88th & 89th “Great Society” Congresses, which put our country on the road to damnation.
