All My Friends Know The Lowe Rider

August 30, 2006 at 6:21 pm

What is it with Rob Lowe and joints named Mothers?

Washington Post’s “Reliable Source” has this item today:

“I only play somebody smart enough to ask those questions.”  Former “West Wing” actor Rob Lowe, asked what he would say to President Bush and New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin about the city’s Ninth Ward, still devastated a year after Hurricane Katrina hit. Lowe, who’s shooting a movie in New Orleans, happened to be at Mother’s restaurant Monday night when Bush and Nagin dined in the next room.

If you’ll forgive this reminiscing about syrupy ’80s sappy movies, wasn’t “Mothers” the name of Rob Lowe’s hang-out in “About Last Night”?

In fact, The Original Mothers is a famous Chicago bar.

Mayor Ray Nagin on New Orleans’ slow recovery:

“You guys in New York can’t get a hole in the ground fixed and it’s five years later. So let’s be fair.”

Extreme Disaster Relief

I noticed on my tax accountant’s desk today a huge, hulking publication called “Hurricane Tax Relief Acts of 2005.” Hundreds and hundreds of pages of rules and regulations. Which got me thinking — boy, if they only used that thing to plug up the levees.
