If Democrats win both Montana and Virginia, the two independent Senators (Joe Lieberman and Bernie Sanders) become the power brokers, presumably giving Democrats control of the Senate.  Sounds like a buddy cop movie: “From a world called New England.  Two Jews.  One, a hawk.  The other, socialist.  Together they fight crime.”

200 Jews Walk Into A Bar …

November 7, 2006 at 9:44 pm

… or at least a CNN exit poll.  They found 200 Jews who voted: 87% went Democrat, 12% Republican.  200 Jews?  That’s not a sample.  That’s Yom Kippur.

Politicians On The Cheap — At Google

November 7, 2006 at 6:30 pm

Adam Viener writes at GoYaMi:

Ok, so I procrastinated on deciding who to vote for today, I have been busy with my affiliate business. So I thought, hey, wouldn’t it be nice to find out of there are some local politicians who get search, maybe they would be the ones to vote for.

So I said to myself, “Self, if there is a local politician doing local PPC advertising, they got my vote!”

It wasn’t to be this year. Other than the term “vote” which came up with an ad to join the libertarian party, there were no candidates to be found. I typed in “who to vote for”, “Virginia senator”, “Virginia senate”, and finally I thought I had stuck gold, I typed in “Virginia Candidates” and was presented with an Ad!

Alas, the ad was from FabulousDomains letting me know that VirginiaCandidates.com was for sale. I clicked through and it’s selling for $1,100. I hope the sell it!

So to the Candidates in the next race, looks like all the terms are up for grabs on Google for $0.05 per click. Might be a lot more cost effective than some of those TV Ads!

So I’ll have to ask my wife who to vote for again this year. Darn!

Missouri: A Live Report

November 7, 2006 at 2:06 pm

What’s the latest from Missouri’s super tight race between Sen. Jim Talent and Claire McCaskill?  Extreme Mortman checked in again with Miles Ross, political director for Friends of Roy Blunt and the chairman of Missouri’s 7th District Get Out The Vote Effort, who is leading the extensive coordinated GOTV efforts in that Republican-vote rich territoriy.

Ross tells us he’s “getting reports from all over the 7th district.  The numbers are high, but it’s still early.  Feelling good.  Turnout seems to be going very well across the Seventh.”

Bhakta The Future

November 7, 2006 at 1:08 pm

Forgive me for not noticing earlier that Raj Peter Bhakta is challenging Democratic Rep. Rep. Allyson Schwartz in Pennsylvania’s 13th District.  (Yeas and Nays brings the news.)

Like most Americans, you’re probably saying, Huh?  Who dat?

Well, silly, Bhakta once appeared on “The Apprentice.”  Got booted off quite early.  So heck, why not run for Congress?

And what’s the latest big news coming out of Raj Bhakta’s campaign?  We learn this from his Sunday blog post:

Brady Quinn threw for a season-high 346 yards and four touchdowns and the 11th-ranked Fighting Irish beat North Carolina 45-26 on Saturday.

Where Blogging Ends And GOTV Begins

November 6, 2006 at 10:10 pm

I’ll keep the identity and state confidential, but here’s the best quote I’ve seen in a long time.  One blogger e-mailing other bloggers about a heavily-fought Senate race:

“If you aren’t turning people out to vote, then you aren’t doing anyone any favors.  Set down the keyboard, my fellow bloggers. Call your local GOP committee, pick up the phone, and GET OUT THAT VOTE!!!!  Kick the crap out of ‘em.”

He may be headed for defeat, but Rep. Christopher Shays (R-CT) has at least earned this proud distinction this campaign season:
