Today’s Worst Person In The World?

MSNBC’s Keith Olberman does an intriguing and entertaining feature on “Countdown” called “Worst Person in the World.” Sometimes it’s a true villain, other times it’s someone who’s done somthing incredbily stupid. Frequently it’s Bill O’Reilly, whom Olbermann calls “this generation’s Joe McCarthy.”
Wondering if Olbermann would name Worst Person in the World someone who engages in McCarthy-esque “acriminious” exchanges in which that person writes “insulting and frequently obscene” e-mails. So much so that the person would then have to publicly admit:
“I apologize to anyone who might take offense at my part of this correspondence. It goes without saying that I should not have replied to these abusive and hateful E-mails, but I wonder how many of us could receive literally hundreds of them questioning our patriotism, religion and ethnic origin, without succumbing to the natural wish to confront such hate?”
That person? Keith Olbermann.

please examine this logic that you use.
please examine what mcarthyism was.
olberman received countless hateful emails, and he succumbed and wrote some unpleasant emails back. was it wrong? yes. do most or many people engage in it? yes.
but notice how you somehow turn this into “McCarthy-esque ‘acriminious’ exchanges.”
they are nothing of the sort.
