Blogs The Famous Media Reads: Jon Fine
July 28, 2006 at 9:38 am
Now, the next installment in Extreme Mortman’s regular feature: A peek inside the blog-reading habits of our nation’s top reporters and media celebrities. Jon Fine writes the weekly column Media Centric for Business Week’s print edition and writes the more-or-less updated daily blog Fine on Media at businessweek.com. Now please give a warm Extreme Mortman welcome to Jon Fine. Here are the blogs Jon Fine tells Extreme Mortman he reads:The day starts with the newsfeed at mediabistro.com, which I would say even if my wife hadn’t founded said site. They start posting links to media stories at a truly ridiculously early hour–like before 7 AM–and thus I go to them before I go to Romenesko and iwantmedia.
Other regular reads, daily or otherwise:
- paidcontent.org
- buzzmachine.com. A very bad site to fall behind on, given the word count that Jarvis disgorges each day.
- kausfiles.com
- coolfer.com. Very clearheaded music industry stuff.
- deadlinehollywooddaily
- fishbowlny and occasionally fishbowlla. (See previous disclaimer)
- awfulplasticsurgery.com. The truest chronicle of celebrity madness in the early 21st century.
- Gawker.com and defamer.com
- advancedtheory.blogspot.com. I’ll let the site explain Jason Hartley’s theory. I don’t agree with it entirely, or even partially, but the blog is great anyway. You’ll have to read it to see why.
- cantstopthebleeding.com. I know nothing about sports nowadays and thus much of this is completely incomprehensible, but Gerard would be hilarious writing about saltines.
- Andrew Ross Sorkin’s dealbook blog at nytimes.com.
And also Drudge Report and the redesigned chowhound.com.

IS this the same thing as saying you and Tom and Karen and Charlie and Jeff and Anne and Steve and Stephen and Jean and Dick and Chris don’t actually do a goddamn lick of work because you spend the entire day browsing the web? WhereTF do any of you all get off ‘commenting’ on anything whatsoever? Try working for a living, or better yet, shove your head up your @ss and go back to sleep.
