Parthenon For The Course

We liked Michael Silence’s take on the news:

Might this be just a tad bit overboard?

“Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama’s big speech on Thursday night will be delivered from an elaborate columned stage resembling a miniature Greek temple.” (Via Insty)

This while members of his own party are piling into the Trojan horse.

Good line.

We’ve got our own thoughts on Dems moving Obama to an outdoor stadium.  It’s so this doesn’t happen again …

We haven’t heard so much cursing at a Democratic convention since Richard Daley’s mic check.

Naw, they’ll play another Handel tune

“See the Conquering Hero Comes” (from the oratorio “Judas Maccabeus”)

    See, the conqu’ring hero comes,
Sound the trumpets, beat the drums.
    Sports prepare, the laurel bring,
    Songs of triumph to him sing;
    Sports prepare, the laurel bring,
Songs of triumph to him sing.

See, the god like youth advance,
Breathe the flutes and lead the dance.
    Myrtle wreaths and roses twine,
To deck the hero’s brow divine.
    See, the conqu’ring hero comes,
Sound the trumpets, beat the drums.

To paraphrase Harry Reid, this convention hasn’t accomplished its goals.

How about “Stonehenge” from Spinal Tap?

I hope they double-check the Temple spec. On second thought, I hope they don’t.

I was thinking the exact same thing. Obama should emerge from a pod surrounded by smoke!

I see it now, Pallas Obama of Invesco. High atop the Barakropolis!

They’re not lowering him as deus ex machina? I’m disappointed.
