Perhaps a better question is why Santorum was debating a man who will not appear on the ballot in November?

Jay, 20 minutes before the debate was to go on, the Judges ruling came down. Besides, Santorum and Romanelli had this lined up for a while. Casey refused to come on.

That may be true, but Romanelli was only on the ballot at all because of donations from Santorum supporters, so perhaps, it isn’t too surprising that Casey decided to pass on this debate. (Probably worth noting Alex that none of the debate in 2000 between Santorum and Klink included 3rd party candidiates.)
