Dana Milbank Takes More Friendly Fire

July 29, 2006 at 3:35 pm

Michael Steele says naughty things about President Bush and the Republican Party — and who gets in trouble?  The guy who reported it, Dana Milbank.

Here’s Washington Post ombudsman Deborah Howell:

The column illustrated beautifully not just Republican problems this year but also how politicians try to play the blame game without taking responsibility. And, for my taste, how reporters too easily agree to shield them…. Always be cautious of politicians bearing negative quotes under a cloak of anonymity.

Just one question, what planet is Deborah Howell from?

I mean its painfully obvious what she is trying to rationalize didn’t happen on planet earth but then again that’s to be expected from the whole staff of the WaPo…

I can see her point. Hey, it’s not like this was an IMPORTANT secret, like the details of national security programs that are catching terrorists.

But it was obvious that the candidate would be outed by the end of the day

Translation: “We journalists are untrustworthy scumbags, and you should know that by now. Shame on you for trusting us.”

The picture is a perfect choice not just because it’s funny, but because it illustrates the problem with Milbank — as good a reporter as he is, and I think he can be tremendously good, he doesn’t think the rules apply to him. Milbank would do everyone a favor, but most of all himself, if he traded places with John Dickerson at Slate. Dickerson’s better at the straight news anyway, and Milbank needs to be at a place where he can be as biased and temperamental and brilliant as he once was at TNR.

Yeah… it’s really all Steele’s fault that Dana Milbank tried to inflate his story with off the record remarks taken out of context.

Attempting to tell, you know, the truth, really is Steele’s fault.

After all… he is… [drum roll]… Dana Milbank. Who does Steele think he is?

That old pic from Olbermann’s nightly clown news looks like Mushmouth from “Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids”. Mush for brains, too. Hey-buh you-buh, can-buh you-buh, hail-buh, me-buh, a cab-buh?

Well, Dana, is a girlie man. I wonder how would Hezbollah abuse him - individually or through a gang-bang?

Treasonous coward is who this loser is.
